A LETTER FROM VP OF MEMBERSHIP

On behalf of SMU Pi Beta Phi, I am thrilled to meet all of the incredible young women going through recruitment. I could not be more proud to be a part of this sorority and the members of this house. I truly never imagined the impact Pi Phi would have on my college experience and all the incredible opportunities it would bring me. Running home to a shiny, new set of wings meant more than just getting to be a part of a sorority, but instead, I was joining a sisterhood that would forever change my life for the better.
I vividly remember the first time I met a Pi Phi. I was instantly gravitated by her genuine spirit and kind-heartedness. I felt as though I had known her for years, and she helped me feel settled in the chaos of starting college. When I finally ran home to Pi Phi, I was embraced by more love than I had ever experienced in my entire life. Pi Phi became a home away from home, filled with people I felt I had known for years. It is hard to believe I will be leaving this amazing place at the end of this year, but I can proudly say Pi Phi has encouraged me to become the most authentic, genuine version of myself. It has given me sisters and friends who laugh with me in the good times and never leave my side during the bad ones. Without this chapter, I would have never had the courage to serve as the Recruitment Chair of the most unique, beautiful, brilliant, funny, and remarkable women. I do not doubt that Pi Phi will give each of you your own set of life-changing experiences. Life is short, but college is shorter, so I encourage you to surround yourself with people worth your while.
We cannot wait to get to know each of you in the upcoming months and show you how Pi Phi has played such a prominent role in our experiences at Southern Methodist University. We hope to see you at our two events in the fall- Arrowspike (September 17th) and Making Spirits Bright (December 5th)- to support our philanthropy, Read > Lead > Achieve! Pi Phi has forever impacted our lives for the better, and we look forward to sharing our sisterhood with you!

Pi Phi Love,
Catherine Cook
